Report: Sony ships 700,000 Vita for Japanese launch

Japanese Media Outlet Mainichi Digital is reporting (via Andriasang) that a total of 700,000 PS Vitas have been shipped to Japanese retailers for tomorrow’s launch.

According to the outlet that number was originally meant to be 500,000, but was bolstered due to high demand for pre-orders. Some outlets report that customers will be able to simply walk into stores tomorrow and pick one up, with or without an early order laid down.

Meanwhile, the west sits patiently, waiting for the system’s February 22 launch. Only 68 days now. Not that we’re counting or anything.
