We knew that Bethesda’s latest, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, was massively popular, what with it being this close to passing Oblivion‘s lifetime sales in its first few weeks of availability and all. But now there’s a few numbers to attach to the studio’s newest success story.
The open-world RPG epic has shipped over 10 million units worldwide, the company’s announced, resulting in the range of $650 million in sales.
Not just that, the game’s also been announced as the fastest-selling title in the history of Valve’s Steam service.
Says Jason Holtman, Valve’s director of business development (via IndustryGamers): “Skyrim is the fastest selling title in Steam’s history. Bethesda’s commitment to and understanding of the PC as a gaming platform shows in the great review scores, spectacular launch, and continued high player numbers that Skyrim has received.”
The game also overtook Modern Warfare 3 on the UK’s all-formats chart last week.
