Call of Duty DLC add-ons may start arriving far more frequently than 3-4 times per year as has been the case for many years now. According to Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg, the company will be experimenting with a more frequent release schedule this year, meaning that Modern Warfare 3 players could be in for new content every few weeks or so.
“The idea of giving people constant incremental playable content and making it so you’re never more than a few weeks away from the next new experience within the Call of Duty universe is part of what we’re experimenting with,” Hirshberg tells Wired.
“This franchise doesn’t really behave like most franchises. It’s become something of a year-round activity for a large percentage of our player population.”
As for what kind of content to expect, it could be map packs smaller than what COD players are used to as well as new missions and/or Spec-Ops outings, Hirshberg says. The decisions on that front will be gathered from players posting on message boards, Twitter etc.
