Microsoft was recently granted a very long-standing patent for bringing a DVR system over to a game console. The application would allow users to record TV, game and music content onto a disc. Xbox 720, anyone?
To quote the official abstract: “The DVR application also integrates itself with the console menu. Once integrated, users can record media content while playing games. Alternatively, users can record content when the gaming console is turned off. The recorded content can include television programming, gaming experience (whether local or online), music, DVDs, and so on.”
This could well be a key feature to the company’s Xbox successor. It’s looking increasingly likely that all these questions will be answered come this year’s E3 in six months time.
