We might’ve been tricked by LEGO once, when we thought the company was interactively delving into Middle-earth with a Lord of the Rings game announcement that turned out to be a new toy line, but no more. There is a new LEGO game coming, but it doesn’t have anything to do with hobbits as much as it has to do with a dark knight, a blocky one at that. Then again, it wouldn’t be LEGO unless it was.
LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes is the sequel to LEGO Batman: The Videogame, which sold a massive 11 million copies worldwide across all platforms. Batman and Robin will team up with, as the name of the game implies, other heroes from the DC universe, including Superman, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern to fight against villains such as the Joker and Lex Luthor.
Fans of the series will enjoy a new, original story that’ll play out in “a rich and expansive Gotham City environment filled with cool characters, great customization options and plenty of surprises,” including the Batmobile and Batwing. Although, having spoiled that “surprise,” we now expect more. New gadgets, suits and abilities — such as flight, super breath and heat vision — are also promised. Those don’t count either.
LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes is set for a summer 2012 release on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, DS, 3DS, PlayStation Vita and PC. As always…
