That Nintendo’s 3DS was off to a slow start is no secret. What continually amazes though is just how well the company has managed to turn the handheld’s fortunes.
The latest surprise comes from Japan where the device has set the record for having sold the most units in a month ever since data cruncher Enterbrain started tracking sales way back in 1997.
Having already been the best-selling console for months, between November 28 and December 25 the system sold an additional 1,492,931 units in the country, according to an Andriasang report. Total sales in the country at last count add up to over 4.1 million units.
The system has also become the fastest-selling console of all time down under. More on that here.
