Fallout Online rights shift to Bethesda

It’s official, Interplay has been exiled from the Fallout Online universe.. in exchange for some coin.

The settlement we wrote about earlier consists of two million dollars going from Bethesda parent Zenimax to Interplay, a move through which Bethesda gains all rights related to Fallout Online.

Interplay can still continue to sell Fallout Tactics, Fallout and Fallout 2 up until  December 2013, after which “all rights to market those games revert to and become the sole property of Bethesda” as well.

With the court drama behind them, Bethesda is, in the words of Zenimax Chairman and CEO Robert Altman, “able to develop future Fallout titles for our fans without third party involvement or the overhang of others’ legal claims.”
