Whether it’s because of Rage‘s critical reviews or actual “standard business practice,” — not that it matters for those affected — the fact is that yet another development studio has been hit by layoffs. In this particular case, id Software. Parent company Bethesda Softworks confirmed as much yesterday.
“As part of its standard business practice, id regularly evaluates staffing to ensure it has a workforce that meets the needs of the studio. As part of that process, some id employees were recently let go,” reads the statement. Evidently, those employees did not meet the qualifications necessary to get another job with in the company, even though the same statement noted that the developer is “still recruiting and hiring qualified developers” and that “development work on future id titles continues unabated.”
Any more good news?
