EA social exec moves to Zynga

Barry Cottle, EA Interactive’s top social executive, has made the move from one mega-publisher to another – Zynga, GamesIndustry.biz reports.

Still keeping the executive part of his job, Cottler is now VP of business and corporate development. He called Zynga “the pioneer and driving force behind the social games industry.”

Interestingly enough the 20 year-vet will now report to John Schappert, who also left EA for a COO position at Zynga a while back.

“Barry’s understanding of the intersection that connects technology, games and entertainment is unmatched,” said Schappert.

“His tenure and background is unparalleled; I’ve always admired his ability to grow businesses and inspire teams. I’m proud to say he’s a colleague again.”

Zynga continues to grow thanks to its social business.
