It’s been a good generation for Rockstar; the likes of Grand Theft Auto IV, Red Dead Redemption and L.A. Noire have seen to that. But, while GTAV remains in development, the company is starting to look towards the next generation. At least that’s what recent job listings suggest.
OXM has uncovered a few listings for the company that are looking for next generation developers. Rockstar North wants environment artists that “will be designing, building and texturing the world, have the technical knowledge to achieve great looking results and the skill to get the most from next-gen consoles.”
Meanwhile Rockstar New England wants a graphics programmer to be “responsible for maintaining and extending the graphics engine on next-gen platforms, breaking new ground in visual effects, and optimizing graphics techniques to meet desired frame rate.”
A listing for an animation progammer suggests that the company’s RAGE engine will be moving to the next consoles t0o. Successful candidates will be “looking at future needs and expansion of its RAGE engine and team by leveraging proven technologies created in our games as well as making key feature and optimization enhancements within all of its subsystems.”
And one final one; another graphics programmer “to create our next-generation graphics pipeline that includes full shader support, advanced lighting/rendering techniques, and special effects.”
Can’t really argue with that, can you? Will GTAV hit the next generation too?
