Hudson Soft, who brought us such games as Bomberman, Mario Party, and a personal favorite, Pinobee, will be absorbed into Konami on March 1, 2012. Konami acquired the company last year, due to Hudson’s financial woes, with the intent to “strengthen Hudson’s net worth.” Apparently, this didn’t go quite to plan.
Despite Hudson’s lack of relevancy in today’s gaming world, it’s still sad to see such a venerable company put in the ground. But a 38 year run is something to be extremely proud of. I, for one, will miss that little flying robotic bee.
