Pre-owned market pushes publishers to digital – Gaikai

You may remember cloud gaming service Gaikai from just last week when the company boldly predicted that one console would drop out of the next generation race.

Now CEO David Perry has turned his attention to the pre-owned market, and just how it’s helping the digital industry. Speaking at the Cloud Gaming Europe event in London, he said: “companies like Gamestop are getting so good at selling used games, getting better and better at squeezing revenues, that they are encouraging publishers to go digital.”

He went on to name digital the logical destination for the industry, and smart retailers (again like Gamestop) are starting to take the new market very seriously.

With PS Vita offering all of its games digitally as well as some at retail, could this be the turning point for the entire industry to go digital?
