A series of layoffs have his THQ’s Australian offices, GameSpot has confirmed.
Originally rumored to be 14 total redundancies, the publisher issued a statement that, while confirming the “reduction is size”, failed to mention the exact size of the layoffs. Details on a reorganization are to be shared at the company’s third quarter conference call on February 2.
Even more worrying are rumors that the company’s Japanese outfit has been shut down all together. Coming from the same source that tipped off the Australian cuts, it doesn’t bode well for the studio’s outlook.
The publisher announced recently that it is to reduce its focus on children’s licensed games in favor of more titles for the core consumer.
