Final Fantasy XIII-2 is barely out the door in the west (it released in the US today, Europe this Friday), but there’s already talk of another sequel to the XIII saga. And the hint comes from XIII-2 itself.
This might be considered a spoiler, you’ve been warned.
The game reportedly ends with a “To be continued” screen while offering little in the means of resolution to the game’s plot. It is possible that it’ll all be wrapped up through downloadable content, though finishing the story of a full retail release with paid add-ons would hardly be looked kindly upon.
The DLC announced so far doesn’t include any hard-hitting story content, just extra weapons, Coliseum battles and the like. Time will tell one this one then.
