Darksiders II is set to release in June, and is looking pretty promising, if I do say so myself. But if you just can’t wait for your Darksiders fix, there’s good news; a novel is forthcoming in May from Random House Worlds.
Written by Ari Marmell, Darksiders: The Abomination Vault takes place thousands of years prior to the events of the original game. Two of the Four Horsemen, Death and War, are given the task of quelling a plot to “resurrect ancient weapons of unimaginable power.” I’m personally hoping for some extremely Lovecraftian situations; non-Euclidean geometry, dead gods, unspeakable secrets, etc.
Random House Worlds is also going to be handling the IP “bible” for the Darksiders universe, which if handled correctly, could be amazing. They have a pretty “good book” to draw inspiration from. And, yes, that pun was intended and, in my opinion, genius.
