Mass Effect 3 Facebook app offers in-game bonuses

For those of you who enjoy Facebook, Microsoft has just released an application entitled Mass Effect 3 Mission Command. This app works mainly as a promotion for the actual game, but you could score some pretty good in-game items.

All you have to do is log in to Mission Command, which will allow EA to access your Facebook account and e-mail, and start saving the universe. Of course, in this situation, “saving the universe” means annoying your friends until they join as well. Of course, there are other things, like coming up with pickup lines to woo Liara and making videos of yourself pretending that you are in the game, which is clearly the coolest thing you could ever post on Facebook. While these aren’t too horribly entertaining, you can unlock some items for the real Mass Effect 3, like a model Normandy avatar item, add-ons, and more. There’s also a chance to win a “custom Paragon or Renegade Xbox 360 with Kinect.”

Mass Effect 3 Mission Command sounds like it could be decent to pass the time waiting for the real game, and on top of that, you could get some free stuff. But I just don’t know if I’m ready to go for the “I’m Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite app on Facebook,” line.
