Rockstar hiring for new open-world game

Rockstar San Diego, the studio that brought us Red Dead Redemption, the Midnight Club series, Smuggler’s Run and even the odd one that is Table Tennis, is moving on to its next big project, which according to numerous job listings, point to being an “open world” one.

Rockstar is on the hunt for gameplay, network and tools programmers according to said listings. On further inspection, the former two specifically mention potential candidates need to be ready for “the challenges posed by large scale open worlds with complex AI and physics” and “the synchronization of the wide range of gameplay mechanics found in a Rockstar open world game,” respectively.

Whether this supposedly open world game will be a follow-up to any of the above or a new IP is anybody’s guess at this point. Given the high standards set time and again by the developer as far as open-world titles are concerned, I would think a sequel would be a waste of time and talent. What’s it going to be?
