Two Mass Effect apps announced for iOS

EA and BioWare are attempting to bring Mass Effect to portable devices once more. Fingers crossed  it turns out better than 2009’s  Mass Effect: Galaxy.

Mass Effect: Infiltrator is a new “fully featured iOS third-person shooter” with “stunning graphics and authentic weapons and powers from the Mass Effect series,” says EA who revealed the game at a press event in New York. It involves giving a helping hand to prisoners located in a hostile Cerberus base, with the player’s efforts rewarded with rewards in Mass Effect 3.

“Every completed rescue and intelligence discovery in Infiltrator will increase a player’s Galactic Readiness rating directly through the ‘Galaxy at War’ system in Mass Effect 3,” it was said.

If playing shooters on a touch device isn’t quite what you’re after, there’s also a Datapad app coming, allowing you to “stay in touch with all of the info in Mass Effect 3,” receive messages from the game’s characters, and keep up to date with how the war’s going.

Release dates for neither were mentioned.
