Namco Bandai has announced the formation of a new development studio, Namco Bandai Studio.
Key Namco franchises like SoulCalibur, Tekken, Tales and Gundam will now all be developed under this banner, as well as new IPs and other Namco franchises.
Andriasang reports that the company basically consists of all of Namco Bandai’s developers merging into one. What this means for the names and positions of developers like Project Soul we’re not too sure. Over 1,000 staff will be under the employ of the new studio.
According to Namco the move should help optimize speed up development times, as well as foster developer skill and creativity.
Official formation will take place on April, where the studio will start working based from Shinagawa, Japan with Hajime Nakatani running the show.
This seems like a pretty dramatic shift to us, but hopefully it reaps the rewards that Namco suggest it will.
