We’ve known for a few months now that a new Star Trek game is currently in the works, and that it will feature a stand-alone story set in the “young Star Trek” universe shown in 2009’s JJ Abrams-directed film. The game’s debut trailer, released in June, has shown us that it will have a focus on co-op gameplay, with players able to control both Kirk and Spock.
Now, we’ve learned that the game is scheduled to ship sometime in the first quarter of 2013, prior to the May 17 release of Abrams’ next Star Trek film.
Star Trek is being developed by Digital Extremes, the guys behind BioShock 2 the recently-released The Darkness II. Trekkies of all persuasions will be able to live long and prosper, too, as the title is set to drop on all major home consoles and PC. No word yet if Vulcans will be getting any discounts on the title, however.
