Nerd love is a rare and wonderful thing. It understands why you’re playing that last raid instead of helping cook dinner, or why you just want to stay inside and play videogames at the weekend instead of going out. God bless nerd love.
And Trion Worlds, developer of popular MMO Rift clearly knows what we’re talking about. During Valentine’s Day this week the company’s game saw the most in-game marriages ever recorded in 24 hours, coming in at a total of 21,879 weddings. That’s real people tying the knot in-game with orcs, elves and dark mages in attendance.
The record will be logged in the next edition of the Guinness Book of World Records Gamer’s Edition. We’re getting all teary eyed just writing about it (not really).
