3DS sells 5 million in Japan, sets new record

Talk about a comeback; after a sluggish start, the Nintendo 3DS has conquered another record. According to data collector Media Create (via), the handheld has now reached the five million sold mark in Japan — that’s sold to consumers, not retail then — and managed it faster than any other system in the past.

It took the 3DS 52 weeks to get over the five million mark. That’s a month less than than the DS and two months faster than the Game Boy Advance.
