BioWare clears air around Mass Effect 3 day-one DLC

With the From Ashes DLC having been revealed by an early Xbox Live listing yesterday, there was quick uproar about BioWare removing content from the game and selling it separately. Not so, executive producer Casey Hudson says.

According to Hudson, any DLC was worked on after the development of the main game was complete. He took to Twitter to explain (via): “It takes about 3 months from ‘content complete’ to bug-fix, certify, manufacture, and ship game discs. In that time we work on DLC.

“DLC has fast [certification] and no [manufacturing], so if a team works very hard, they can get a DLC done in time to enjoy it with your 1st playthrough on day one. On ME3, content creators completed the game in January and moved onto the ‘From Ashes’ DLC.”

The content adds a Prothean to Shepard’s squad and will be free with the Collector’s Edition. Others can download it separately, for a yet-to-be-announced price.
