Devil’s Third — remember that name? It’s the third-person action title in development at Ninja Gaiden creator Tomonobu Itagaki’s Valhalla Games at the moment.
It’s a big project, but, as we’ve learned in recent weeks, big projects are a bit of a gamble for the financially unstable THQ right now, who is publishing the project. That hasn’t stopped the company from sinking every last dime into Itagaki’s latest, though.
“The one thing that’s completely different between the Eastern publisher and Western publisher is the budget,” the dev told Game Informer. “I’ve made more than 30 games, and if you put a little bit more [money] into the one I’m making now, Devil’s Third, I could make all of the 30 games I made before. That’s the big difference. The budget you use for the promotion is completely different too. Those are the biggest differences.”
Yikes, that sounds like a lot of moolah. Given that THQ is also currently investing in big titles like Metro, Darksiders II, inSane and a range of other titles, we wonder how much the company is currently spending on development costs.
