Xbox man becomes Activision CFO

Microsoft veteran Dennis Durkin is now chief financial officer at Call of Duty and World of Warcraft giant Activision Blizzard, the company’s announced today. He takes over the role from Thomas Tippl, who has been handling the position’s duties on an interim basis since 2010.

Durkin left his spot as Corporate Vice President, Chief Operating and Financial Officer of Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment Business to take the new gig. In shorter terms, he was in the team responsible for Xbox 360’s successes.

“I am thrilled to join the talented team at Activision Blizzard, which has an incredible track record of consistent success,” says Durkin of the move. “With the expansion of digital entertainment, this is an exciting time to partner with the company’s senior leaders to continue to drive future growth and increase shareholder value.”

He was with Microsoft since 1999.
