Lollipop Chainsaw, the latest mad creation from the minds of Suda 51 and Grasshopper Manufacture, has been given an official release date. Warner Bros. announced that the title will drop this June 12th in North America and June 15th in Europe during a party at the on-going GDC in San Francisco (thanks, IGN).
Lollipop Chainsaw tells the not-so-typical tale of Juliet, a blonde high school cheerleader with some absurdly disproportionate bodily features (I’ll let you guess where), as she slices and dices her way through a sudden zombie outbreak. The game looks to be going for a decidedly pulp experience, with plenty of gore, sex, and naughty words being thrown about throughout; it’s hard not to be reminded of a Robert Rodriguez flick here. Also, there’s a talking severed head. If nothing else, the game has the “uniqueness” portion of the game design down. Whether the rest of the game succeeds or not, we’ll just have to wait and see this summer.
