Medal of Honor: Warfighter gets new campaign, multiplayer details, first screens

More details on Medal of Honor: Warfighter are in. Following yesterday’s debut trailer and news that the 2012 shooter would be a globe-trotting one, a presser from EA informs a bit more on what that entails.

Come October 23 — that’s the global date, by the way — “rescuing hostages in the Philippines” and “eliminating the pirate threat on the Somali Coast” will be among the heroics players will be pulling off. Warfighter follows the first game’s Preacher character as he returns home to find his family asunder; “Trying to pick up the pieces and salvage what remains of his marriage, Preacher is reminded of what he’s fighting for – family.” Can’t say that holds promise for compelling gameplay, but worry not; there’ll be thunder and fire soon enough.

“But when a deadly explosive known as PETN penetrates civilian borders and his two worlds collide, Preacher and his fellow teammates are sent in to do what they do best — solve the problem.”

All in all, Warfighter‘s solo campaign promises “an up close and personal look into the fight against today’s global terror threat.”

As for multiplayer, developer Danger Close has included 12 different Tier 1 Operators from the likes of the Australian SASR, British SAS, German KSK, Polish GROM, and others. These are the guys you’ll be playing as online.

There’s an early unlock to be had a well. Those who pre-order the Limited Edition get the U.S. Navy SEAL Tier 1 Sniper, a weapon that otherwise unlocks about 40 hours into the multiplayer.

Finally, as already known, the game will run on DICE’s Frostbite 2 tech. Expect to see it a lot going forward.
