XCOM: Enemy Unknown is a return to form for the classic strategy franchise, which had been dormant until the reveal of the FPS interpretation a few years ago. But, at the beginning of development, it was more than just that; it was nearly a strict remake of the original game.
Pete Murray, Associate Producer at developer Firaxis, told StrategyInformer: “The original prototype was very close to the original XCOM, almost a straight remake… but as Jake iterated on it, he realised there were certain ways of doing things in the game that were better than the way they were done back then.”
“So even though some things have changed, the game still hits all the right notes.”
The game is heading to PS3, 360 and PC this fall.
