Vita continues to struggle in Japan

Coming off the back of a pleasing worldwide launch, it looks like Sony’s PS Vita is still destined to struggle in Japan, where the system launched last year.

The handheld moved 10,023 units between February 27th and March 4th – which is down by 1,163 units from last week. The 3DS sold 70,744 units while the PSP moved another 15,715.

The PS3 had a good week, though, selling 65,116 units thanks to the release of One Piece: Pirate Warriors. That’s a pirate game by Namco Bandai. Apparently it’s not on for release here. Huh.

Sony’s set to hold a Vita conference in Japan tomorrow. Should the words monster and hunter appear in the same sentence, then expect these sales to start shooting up.
