As promised, Sony has announced several new games for the PS Vita today in Japan. It’s a mixed bag of goodies, including some surprising reveals. Thanks to Andriasang for all of the following announcements.
First up is Sega’s Phantasy Star Online 2, which is going to be sharing the same servers as its PC counterpart. This means that players will be able to take the same character with them on the go and then bring it back home to PC, which is a pretty interesting feature. That will be out in Japan in 2013.
Also confirmed was a new project from legendary game designer Keiji Inafune, creator of Mega Man and recent hits like Dead Rising. While not showing the game in any shape or form, Inafune described the project as “Inafune-like” and “amazing”. We’ll take his word for it.
Both projects are only confirmed for Japan as of right now.
Sony also showed more on the upcoming Persona 4 port as well as confirming a June 28 for the Vita version of the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. Those games will be coming west, though we don’t know when just yet.
No Monster Hunter, then, but perhaps Sony is saving some of its bigger announcements for E3, which is a little under three months away now.
