Mass Effect 3 breaks franchise records

Not only has Mass Effect 3 taken the top spot on the weekly UK charts as reported some hours ago, it’s also broken franchise records for EA and BioWare by having sold more units in week one than Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 managed combined.

This comes after EA CEO John Riccitiello saying US day one sales alone add up to almost 900,000 copies. There are no precise sales numbers for the UK though.

It’s also been revealed which platform the game is most popular on in the UK; 73 percent of all copies sold so far have been for the Xbox 360 version, the platform the game was once a console exclusive to. PlayStation 3 took 14 percent.

As of last week, the game had shipped 3.5 million copies worldwide.
