The Mojang vs Bethesda mini-saga over the former’s plan to name its next game Scrolls has come to and end, and with both parties walking away pleased.
The Minecraft studio’s main man, Markus “Notch” Persson, has tweeted that while Bethesda will maintain the trademark for the Scrolls name, he can use it for the game without paying the Skyrim giant a penny.
Mojang also can’t make an Elder Scrolls competitor.
Bethesda’s confirmed it from its end as well, through a press release. They say Mojang can use the “Scrolls” name for this one game (including DLC), but not any sequel.
Persson himself is certainly pleased with the outcome; “Yaaaay! <3”, he says.
