Ubisoft Toronto should be revealing the new Splinter Cell title any time now.
Speaking to CVG at GDC last week, studio head Jade Raymond said that their first AAA title should be revealed shortly.
“We are about to announce our first big triple-A being developed by the studio,” she confirmed.
That title being the next Splinter Cell, as it’s been known for a while now.
Speaking of the team the studio’s put together, Raymond added: “I’ve got to say I think it’s going better than I could’ve imagined. I’m really amazed at the team we’ve put together and what we’ve been able to accomplish and I think Ubisoft is pretty excited too. Soon we’ll find out what everyone else thinks!”
The studio remains “100% focused” on Splinter Cell for the time being, but expect new intellectual properties as well: “We’re not actually working on a big new IP yet within the studio. It’s one of the mandates and we’re definitely starting up some things in that direction, but we’re not working on a big new IP yet.
“Right now we’re 100% focused on Splinter Cell.”
Ubisoft announced the Toronto offices back in summer of ’09. That it was working on the next Splinter Cell was confirmed nearly two years ago, in May of 2010.
