UK Charts: Shepard takes first back

We’re not sure how Shepard’s quest to retake earth will go (haven’t finished it yet, bloody work) but his mission to do the same for the UK charts has been a success – Mass Effect 3 was the best selling game of last week, putting it at the top of the charts. In fact, it’s the best selling game of the year so far, beating launch week figures for both Mass Effect 1 and 2 combined. We’d expect nothing less from the Normandy crew.

Last Friday’s other big release, Street Fighter X Tekken, claimed the third spot, with the now week-old SSX sitting pretty┬áin between. That was on top last week.

FIFA 12 was in fourth and another new entry, Mario Party 9, was just behind in fifth. After that it was The Sims 3: Showtime in sixth, followed by Mario & Sonic, Modern Warfare 3, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations and Zumba Fitness all claiming the seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth spots respectively.

Meanwhile, Asura’s Wrath clearly wasn’t angry enough to breach the top 10. It’s also the first week that PS Vita games Uncharted: Golden Abyss and FIFA Football have fallen off of the top.
