With Game Group facing administration, limited stock and store closures, it doesn’t look like the UK retailer has long left. The thought is, then, that US giant GameStop will buy up the company and we’ll all go on acting like this never happened. But it may not just be GameStop interested in the company.
MCV reports that both Hilco and OpCapita are eyeing up acquisition. Hilco, a retail restructuring company is looking at the company’s international business, though not its homegrown offerings. On the other hand, OpCapita, owner of retailers like Comet, is reportedly interested in the UK division of the chain.
If true it could prove to be an interesting new direction for the brand. One way or another, the next week is going to prove vital to the company’s future.
