Mass Effect 3‘s four-man cooperative multiplayer mode was once a stand-alone multiplayer first-person shooter, wouldn’t you know it.
The information comes from the Final Hours of Mass Effect 3 app, which was released earlier today.
Th goal apparently was to make a game that mixes Unreal Tournament and Battlefield 1943‘s best qualities, though it was in development for only four months before BioWare turned it into the online component that’s attached to Mass Effect 3 today.
The whole undertaking was called Mass Effect Team Assault, or META. The app includes some footage from the project, but it’ll cost you; it runs for $2.99.
