Playing World of Warcraft on your iPhone may yet become reality; Blizzard has given a quick update on the progress the undertaking is making, telling EG that “the world is evolving towards that little handheld device.”
iOS’ current WoW app allows players to view character sheets, manage guilds and make use of the Auction House on the go, but beyond that, “It’s hard! This is hard!” senior producer John Lagrave says.
“Here’s your platform, you’ve got to put an interface, what do you do? So yes we have [looked into mobile] and we always are. Maybe we’ll stumble on the great way to put WOW on the phone – maybe we won’t, but we’re certainly looking into it.”
“It would be foolish for any game developer to not be looking at that,” he adds, “and we’re not – we don’t think – we’re foolish!”
That said, Blizzard hasn’t yet “solved” how to bring a game like WoW over to the smaller screen. “When we have an epiphany, everyone will know.
“But for now, no epiphany!”
Speaking of World of Warcraft, we posted the latest batch of trailer from the Mists of Pandaria expansion just earlier today. Grab those here.
