The folks over at Obsidian Entertainment haven’t been having a good week, to say the least. A few days ago, we told you that the developer had laid off 30 members of its staff, possibly canning a reported next-gen project in the process.
Now, Joystiq is reporting that development on the studio’s upcoming original IP Xbox Live title, originally planned to be released in the first quarter of 2012, has been delayed.
Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart said: “That project is currently on hold; we are looking at where we might want to take it.”
So far, all Obsidian has told us about the title is that “it’ll be an action RPG that’s focused on fun,” and that it is “quite a bit different in a different genre with a different camera.” Of course, with the title being an original IP, our curiosity is piqued. Unfortunately, we’ll all just have to wait a little while before this project comes to fruition.
