Kojima points to his son for Snake’s Smash Bros debut

Solid Snake’s inclusion in the most recent edition of Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. series, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, came as a huge surprise to Nintendo, Sony and Metal Gear fans alike. But it wouldn’t have happened at all had it not been for Metal Gear mastermind Hideo Kojima’s son.

At a recent panel in Washington, Kojima revealed that it was his son who convinced him to pit the ruthless killer against the likes of Mario and Donkey Kong.

“My child likes Super Smash Bros., so we play it a lot together. And he told me that there’s no character that you made in that game,” he said.

“As you know, we did make Twin Snakes, but generally speaking, there hasn’t been a lot of Metal Gear on Nintendo platforms. So from that perspective, I thought it was a good way to expose younger people to this character, Snake.”

Does this mean we can expect to see everyone’s favorite bandanna make it into the Wii U-bound entry?
