Starhawk will include two-player split-screen, Lightbox has announced over at the official PlayStation Blog today, warming the hearts of those who like to go online shoulder by shoulder.
The game will support dual-logins, allowing two players to sign into the same machine simultaneously. SCEA senior producer Harvard Bonin explains: “You can sign in using your PSN ID on the same machine and retain the XP you earn at your friend’s house. And you can still take that hard-earned XP home with you and apply it to your character there.”
There is a bit of a catch though, you can call it that: “If you’re Player Two, you can’t earn Trophies or character customizations (outfits, paint jobs, decals) as these are saved directly to the PS3.”
Two-player split-screen is a step back from the four-player split-screen included in Warhawk, but very few apparently used that, so the developers “concentrated our efforts in other areas.”
Starhawk will arrive in May.
