The rumor mill keeps on spinning, and this time weaves a message that suggests Sony’s Zipper Interactive, the first-party developer responsible for all things SOCOM, is currently on the chopping block.
The developer’s seen some rough times, with SOCOM 4 and MAG not grabbing the massive crowds their lords and masters and Sony would have liked, and saw 33 layoffs back in May. Now there are reports that things are in motion to simply shut the house down, or face some major downsizing.
A world without Zipper Interactive would probably mean Sony hands the SOCOM reins off to someone else. There’s a morbid curiosity who “someone else” could be, but until official word comes our way, everything is just guesswork.
