Spector wants to port original Epic Mickey

If Junction Point studios head Warren Spector gets his way, the original Epic Mickey would be ported over to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 sometime in the future.

Speaking to Game Informer at this month’s GDC, Spector said he “desperately” wants to bring his Disney adventure over to other platforms.

“I just think it would be cool for people to see where the story started, so we’ll see,” said Spector. “We sold many millions of copies of [Epic Mickey] on just the Wii, and being on the Wii was great. It was a perfect way to reintroduce Mickey as a hero in video games.”

This isn’t the first time Spector has been pressed on the subject. Back in 2010, Spector told MTV, “there’s no reason why we couldn’t [port the title to other platforms] but that’s a decision Disney makes. If they tell me to do it, there’s nothing that would stop us from doing it.”

Last week, Disney confirmed that a sequel, Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, is in development, and that it will be released on Wii, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 this September. You can check out a trailer for the upcoming “videogame musical” here.
