Rovio acquires Shattered Horizon developer

Futuremark Games Studio is now a part of Angry Birds developer Rovio, the social giant announced today. Previously a part of benchmarking software maker Futuremark, FGS is responsible zero-g shooter Shattered Horizon, and more recently Unstoppable Gorg.

It’s Rovio’s second acquisition in the last 12 months and will support the company’s “larger expansion plan.”

Sans its developer, Futuremark says it will focus on its 3DMark benchmarking tools which, according to CEO Jukka Makinen, will get a new release later this year, allowing for “unified gaming performance comparison across operating systems and form factors for the first time.”
