It’s official: thatgamecompany can officially call themselves that record setting company. The darling dev’s latest PSN exclusive, Journey, has become the fastest-selling title ever released on the PlayStation Network.
The news comes from a post on the official PlayStation Blog from thatgamecompany co-founder Jenova Chen, who thanked fans of the game “for [their] support, for spending time and money to play our game, and for spreading the word about Journey to [their] dear friends and family.”
No official sales figures have been released yet, so it’s still unclear the exact number of copies the downloadable title sold.
Unfortunately for Sony, Journey will, in all likelihood, mark the end of TGC’s exclusivity to the PS3, as we reported a few weeks back that Chen and company, now minus other co-founder Kellee Santiago, are looking to go multi-platform with their next release.
In addition to the record breaking, Chen also announced that, due to popular demand, Journey‘s soundtrack will be up for purchase April 11th on iTunes and the PlayStation Store.
And no, Steve Perry will not be making an appearance on the soundtrack, so don’t even try to make the lame pun, folks. This doesn’t work any way you want it.
