There were a string of interesting releases last Friday, all prepped to assault this week’s UK charts. But none of them have managed to take down FIFA Street, which now enjoys its third week in first place.
Even Mass Effect 3 managed to hold on to second place, while newcomer Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 claimed third. Capcom’s Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City stayed strong too, ending up in fourth, while it was back to EA for fifth with FIFA 12. That’s EA maintaining its iron grip on the top five for another week, then.
Sixth brought a nice surprise though; Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations managed to take the position. You wouldn’t expect CyberConnect2’s anime-adaption would breach the top ten, but it’s undeniably deserved. After that comes Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3, Mario & Sonic and SSX all in that order.
Of course, you might be wondering where the other three releases from last week were. Well, Konami’s Silent Hill HD Collection debuted at 12 while Silent Hill: Downpour came in at 15. Surely Konami were hoping that’d really be the other way round, if not higher.
Oh, and then there’s Ridge Racer Unbounded, which has caused confusion with critics over the game’s control setup. That confusion has clearly carried over into sales, as the game debuted at 21.
We’re now entering a pretty dull period for game release. A 360 release for The Witcher 2 is about all that interests us in April. How will the charts unfold as the dry season kicks in?
