Third Penny Arcade game coming, after all

Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness Episode Three is happening, despite having been cancelled a few years ago. It’ll be a new game though, with a new developer, a new look, and a story that only loosely relates to the originals’.

Indie house Zeboyd Games is the force behind this one, with the goal being a Grandia and Final Fantasy V-inspired RPG.

Zeboyd’s Robert Boyd has explained the new direction to Joystiq: “Since we realized it’s been quite some time since the last two [games], we’re trying to make it more of a standalone title.

“The world and the characters — there’s lots of connections to the past two games, but, as far as plot goes, you should be able to start the third game without any direct knowledge of the first two and do just fine.”

Episode Three is penned by Boys mostly, with Penny Arcade co-creator Jerry Holkins editing and such;  “I’m doing a lot of the writing and he’s doing a lot of editing and plot and that kind of thing, and I offer suggestions and he offers suggestions.”

While there are no dates or orices yet, the game will be showing up on a number of platforms:  PC, Mac, Xbox Live Indie Games, iOS and Android.
