Seems like there’s no returning to single-player for Capcom’s Resident Evil series now; Resident Evil 6 has been confirmed to have two-player online and offline co-op.
The publisher confirmed that the game’s campaign will support co-op at its recent Captivate event. Building on Resident Evil 5‘s offerings, drop-in/out support will now be added, allowing for easy game joining.
Mercenaries mode will also make a return. The point-scoring mini-game will now be available as soon as you boot up the disc, rather than unlocking once the campaign’s beaten.
No word on any sort of competitive multiplayer for now but new details could be included in the future. As we learned today, Resident Evil 6 has moved from its November release to an early October one on PS3 and 360.
