March’s NPD figures are in, and it’s more doom and gloom for the US industry as a whole.
Sales totals were at $1.1 billion, down a whopping 25 percent compared to the same period on 2011.
Hardware was down 35 percent ($323.5m) while non-PC software followed with a 25 percent decline ($553.1m). This means that 2012 is yet to see a month of positive year-over-year growth.
There’s good news for some though; Xbox 360 was the most-sold console for the 15th month in a row now. Microsoft must be pleased.
EA gets a piece of the happy pie as well, with Mass Effect 3 taking top honors on the software chart. Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City came in second.
