Twisted Metal and God of War creator David Jaffe has given a few hints towards his next endeavor, and it sounds an awful lot like he’s itching to do a first-person shooter.
Speaking in an interview with IGN, Jaffe says he loves the genre but that it’s not doing much for him these days. “I love the genre, but I feel it has been allowed to go a little — well, actually, quite a lot — stale when it comes to moment to moment mechanics.”
To that end, one of the ideas he has involves “a gun … and you hold it.”
He further added: “And all the things that I can sit here and passionately discuss and preach to you are absolutely things that I’m thinking about doing if it turns out the game we’re thinking about doing gets made next involves a gun and a person holding a gun.”
Nothing’s set in stone then.
Jaffe has some experience with FPSs, having once worked on Heartland, a PSP game. It got cancelled though.
