Tucked discreetly into its 38 page fiscal 2012 results statement and casually mentioned during its investor call, Electronic Arts assured fans that titles from two of the gaming giant’s more popular franchises will be in their disc drives by next spring.
EA pegged a new unnamed Need for Speed title for “HD Console/PC” (sorry Wii owners, but there’s always hope for Wii U!) in its fourth quarter and fiscal year 2012 results statement, and then reiterated that game’s development as well as a new Dead Space game during an investor conference call.
“At the foundation is another year of blockbuster brands: Madden NFL, FIFA, Sim City, Medal of Honor, Dead Space, and Need for Speed as well as mobile hits like The Simpsons Tapped Out, and Bejeweled,” EA said, as reported by Game Informer. The company targets both titles being ready by the end of its current fiscal year, slated to wrap up on March 31, 2013.
So, Need for Speed: Underground 3 and Dead Space 3 by this time next year? Any takers on that bet? Whether EA releases sequels to both of these franchises or takes them in new directions, new information should be incoming fairly soon as we’re tentatively less than a year from seeing these games on store shelves.
